The Bonny Men

Celebrating a decade of music together, The Bonny Men will take the stage in Mullingar for the Céílí Picnic at the Fleadh Cheoil 2022, to deliver a pulsating and high-octane gig! Legendary musician Steve Cooney has described The Bonny Men’s music as “daring and unstoppable”. With newly crafted arrangements, intriguing sounds and a delivery that is never shy of character or personality, this All Ireland gathering gig will be guaranteed to be a musical experience from start to finish!

Emma Langford & Band

Emma Langford - Storytelling sits at the heart of everything Emma does; interweaving her live performances, and shining through her recorded works. Hers is an inimitable, dreamy voice in the new wave of Irish folk. Langford was awarded the RTÉ Folk Award for Best Emerging Artist in 2018, and in 2020 and 2021 was nominated for Best Folk Singer. She received the Music Network RESONATE residency, and Arts Council Agility Award in 2021 to support her continuing musical exploration of women in Irish history.

KÍLA

Heralded as one of Ireland's most innovative and exciting bands Kíla are renowned for blending traditional Irish music with contemporary world sounds to create magical jigs, explosive instrumentals and transcendental songs. The bands live performance of multi instruments and bi-lingual vocals combine to create a musical extravaganza like no other. In 2019 Kíla’s own Rónán Ó Snodaigh and his bodhrán collective of 14 bodhrán players joined us at the Céilí Picnic stage for a masterclass of transcendental rhythm and energy.

 

All Folk’d Up

All Folk’d Up have garnered a reputation as one of the best new-wave bands operating on the Irish circuit, with fans travelling across Ireland and beyond to catch a glimpse of the lads from Aughnacloy, Co. Tyrone. The five-piece have continued their march to Irish Folk-Rock dominance with some star-studded guest appearances on the Irish and UK festival circuit, as well as residencies in Dublin’s Temple Bar, The Cheltenham Horse Racing Festival and at the world-renowned Mandalay Bay Casino Resort in Las Vegas.

 

Mickey Joe Harte

Mickey 'joe' Harte has been a mainstay of the Irish roots and popular music scene for more than 15 years. He has multiple Platinum records to his credit including #1's and many Top 20 hits on the Irish charts. We’re delighted to welcome Mickey back to the Ceili Picnic stage this year after rocking the Drogheda Fleadh back in 2019. A true Irish talent, not to be missed.


3 On The Bund

3 on the Bund are an exciting band that came together in March of 2019 after meeting in the University of Limerick's prestigious Irish World Academy. Their complex, layered arrangements consist of both traditional and newly composed tunes which are played with an energy and a passion that is completely authentic. The band's 4 members are from varied musical backgrounds which contributes to their diverse sound. The band are all award-winning and accomplished performers, and as a group, they have already travelled to Beijing, Shanghai, the U.K and the United States.

Moone Boys

Moone Boys are a little different: it's Irish & folk, but not as you've heard it before. The songs are contemporary, often fun, & always engaging! Fronted by Cathal Dolan from Kells, a giant of a man, with a voice to match it! Cathal plays music internationally with regular shows all over Europe, bringing his unique style and vibrance wherever he goes.

Aindrias De Staic & The Latchikos

Aindrias de Staic cannot be pigeon-holed as a traditional Irish musician. He is his own unique and authentic brand of Irish. An accomplished and acclaimed actor, writer, television presenter, and filmmaker, there is nothing status quo about him. Wildly original, worldly, enthralling and slightly enigmatic, Aindrias is a captivating and diverse performer who will leave audiences amused and confused, delighted and bewildered and creatively fuelled with his explosive, infectious-energy.

RYAN SHERIDAN

In 2019 Rayan Sheridan and his powerhouse drummer Ronan Nolan tore the roof off the Céilí Picnic tent in Drogheda. They're sold sold out Fleadh appearance set the tone for what was to become the biggest party on the planet. BRÍDÍN & SARAH O’GORMAN

Brídín is a multi-instrumentalist from west Co. Sligo who carries on the musical traditions passed down through four generations of her family. We are so excited to welcome Brídín to the festival this year. After seeing her on the Tommy Tiernan show we were captivated by her creative use of technology, traditional instrumentation and layered vocal harmonies to create mystical and transcendental sounds. Brídín will be joined by the wonderful Sarah O’Gorman not he Céiií Picnic stage for an unforgettable evening. Don’t misss out!

 

The Ciara Fox Big Band

Ciara Fox and the Big Band play Ceili Picnic at Fleadh Cheoil 2022 on Thursday August 4th

We can’t wait fro welcome Ciara and the band to Mullingar this August. Ciara Fox is an award-winning Irish folk singer from Greencastle, Co.Tyrone. Although Ciara performs regularly as a solo artist, but she’s pulling out all the stops this summer as she performs with her Big Band at Céilí Picnic, for what promises to be an unmissable show. The big band comprises many well-accomplished musicians, including members of the Blackwater Céilí band, who are no strangers to the Fleadh themselves!

 

JIGGY

An unbelievable gig in store with Jigs in town! Jiggy continue the tradition of their musical ancestors while bringing a whole new exotic flavour to the table, more of a collective than an orthodox band, Jiggy’s mercurial line up mixes and melds Irish traditional music, world rhythms and cutting-edge dance grooves. Jiggy took the internet by storm with their video ‘Silent Place’ celebrating the global togetherness of dance and to date it has clocked up more than 35 million views.

The Enemies Play Ceili Picnic at Fleadh Cheoil Mullingar on Saturday August 6th 2022

The Enemies rocked the Drogheda Fleadh in both 2018 and 2019 with their energetic set of party hits, Irish rock and the biggest sing song possible! The lads are no strangers to big audiences and play all over Ireland, the US, Europe and the Middle East, where they entertain the Irish diaspora at global GAA events, and Irish gatherings annually. Join the party on Saturday night and be sure to bring your dancing shoes. Make friends with the Enemies!

Thin Az Lizzy

Thin Az Lizzy play Ceili Picnic at Fleadh Cheoil 2022 in Mullingar on Sunday 7th August

Delighted to welcome back to the Céilí Picnic Irelands biggest and best Thin Lizzy tribute after an amazing show at the Drogheda Fleadh in 2019. Thin Az Lizzy, the renowned Thin Lizzy tribute act, will be bringing all your favourite Thin Lizzy hits to close out the Céilí Picnic stage on August 7th. The band will guarantee to rock your socks off with all the Lizzy favourites such as "The Boys are Back in Town", "Killer on the Loose", "Jailbreak" and "Don't Believe a Word" and more.

PADDY CASEY

Paddy Casey - Having been at the forefront of the Irish music scene since his multi platinum selling debut album ‘Amen (So Be It)’, Paddy Casey’s career has taken him all over the globe touring with acts like The Pretenders, R.E.M, Ian Brown, Blondie and Tracy Chapman. Closer to home he has played all over Ireland, including Dublin Castle, RDS and The Olympia Theatre, alongside special guest spots with U2, Pearl Jam, Bob Dylan and more. 

MOXIE

Moxie are cited as one of the highlights from Céilí picnic 2019 in Drogheda and we are delighted to welcome them back in 2022. One of the hardest working bands in Ireland, and it's been an exciting journey watching this band as they evolve and grow, exploring new sounds and continue pushing the boundaries of traditional Irish and world music.

 

Paul Watchorn (The Dublin Legends)

Thurs Aug 4th

Having played worldwide as a solo artist and with The Dublin Legends and touring with Derek Warfield of the Wolfetones, Paul has plenty of great stories to tell. He is also an accomplished banjo player, guitar player, and vocalist. His music ranges from singing Ballads and Country to playing Bluegrass. Paul Watchorn won the hearts of the Drogheda Fleadh in 2019 with his powerful voice and excellent storytelling. We're delighted to have him with us again this year before he returns to tour with The Dublin Legends in Europe.

 

The Sheandrum Céilí band

The Shandrum Céilí band play Céilí Picnic on August 5th 2022 at Fleadh Cheoil Mullingar

Céilí Picnic would not be complete without the very best Céilí band around! The Shandrum Céilí Band, three-in-a-row All-Ireland Champions, takes their name from the Shandrum parish in North County Cork. The band was in existence from the 1950s through to the 1970s, playing for dances and céilithe in all the major halls across North Cork. The current band all have links to their predecessors, with a line up of young musicians who have all achieved success on the céilí band circuit, winning medals in all the age groups right through to senior level.

The Finns

The Finns play Ceili Picnic at Fleadh Cheoil Mullingar on Saturday August 6th 2022

The Finns are a highly successful folk music duo from Laois, Ireland, brothers Hugh and Ciaran Finn. Their roots lie in traditional Irish music but their original songs have been described as alt-folk roots, or indie folk music, with strong hints of blues and rock. The Finns play banjos, guitars, percussion, bouzouki, tenor guitars and harmonicas making the live set very interesting and with their strong harmonies shining through, the brother vibe is very enjoyable to watch as they entertain very organically.

Liam Byrne (Christy Moore Tribute)

Liam Byre is a talent like no other. HIs Christy Moore tribute is as close to the real deal as you’ll ever see. But it’s not all Christy Moore hits, Liam has a huge bag of songs to draw from, and the show will have you laughing and singing and hugging and dancing all afternoon. Be sure to get there early and enjoy all the craic of the final day at Fleadh Cheoil and Céilí Picnic.

"THE BOGS" Bog O The Loughs are one of Ireland's top celtic touring bands playing in venues all over Ireland , UK & Europe. We’re looking forward to welcoming The Bogs to the Céilí Picnic stage on our opening day when they’ll be closing out the evening. Join in the craic agus ceoil as we kick off the fleadh with a bang!
